THE NUSANTARA EXPO 2011 (Archipelago Expo 2011)







120 Stands Crowded The 7th Nusantara Expo 2011 in Pontianak Convention Center

The domestic products exhibition, the 7th Nusantara Expo 2011 officially opened by Vice Governor of West Kalimantan, Christiandy Sanjaya, on wednesday(6/4) at Pontianak Convention Center(PCC). The exhibition filled by 120 stands(small shops) of 20 provinces in Indonesia. Beside West Kalimantan, there are many others participants. They are East Kalimantan, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam, West Java, West Sumatera, Jambi, DKI Jakarta, DI Yogyakarta, Central Java, East Java, Bali and many more.

The exhibition which held during five days, shows many kinds of excellent handycrafts from various UKM of Indonesian. The products are in forms of textile products, silver handycrafts, wooden handycrafts, pearls and various kinds of traditional culineries.

The Vice Governor of West Kalimantan, Christiandy Sanjaya states his commitment to support and develop the expo that exist in West Kalimantan. At the future he planned to hold the expansion of UKM products with hold the expo to several neighbor countries such as Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, and Singapore.

The Mayor(walikota) of Pontianak, Sutarmidji said that, "UKM was an important sector which as a source to increase the economical of society. If West Kalimantan, particularly Pontianak was poor of natural resources, but it rich in handycraft products and other interesting goods. That was a source of social life-style with high inovation and creativity.

Project Officer and Director of Prima Cipta Mandiri, Endang SSN, reveal if Nusanatara(archipelago) Expo 2011 can be expected to become the driving wheel of economic and trade Kalbar for the SME(UKM) sector. This annual event fully supported the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs(UKM), the Ministry of Commerce, the West Kalimantan provincial government, municipal government and 10 state-owned Enterprises(BUMN) the builder scores of small businesses in West Kalimantan, including Bank Mandiri, Pelindo II, Pelindo III, Pertamina, PT Askes, Pupuk Kaltim, Telkom , Jamsostek PTPN XIII and PT Pos Indonesia.
